  1. Question #2
Because Hedonism is what makes you feel good. And the good life is what makes you feel good. Yes because no one wants someone else deciding what the good life is for them. They would want to decide for themselves.
    Question #4
That is your parents really care about your happiness, and lobotomizing makes you happier, then you should be lobotomized. The Hedonist view on this is, well if it makes you happier then you should do it no matter what the risks, and complications occur.

  2. The difference between physical and attitudinal pleasure is, that one is something that you can hold and grab, while the other is something that is in your mind. Physical pleasure is something that will only last for a few seconds or minutes, while attitudinal pleasure can last for a long time. Physical pleasure is something like, having sex and attitudinal pleasure is a memory that you will keep for ever. Attitudinal pleasure is always intrinsically, because it is the positive attitude of enjoyment. They make a distinction, because they are two different types of pleasure. A type of pleasure that you can have for only a few minutes compared to one that you could have your entire life.

  3. Physical pleasure is a good feeling or sensation that you do or experience. Whatever gives you that pleasure is a physical object. Attitudinal pleasure is a more emothional please, such as being happy or confient. This pleasure is something you think about or listen to that makes you happy, more of a mental experience. Hedonists claim that attitudinal pleasure is more intrinsically valuable because it makes them think more about life and feel good about themselves. Attitudinal pleasure helps them to have more confidence and become mentally stronger.

  4. There is a difference between physical pleasures and attitudinal pleasures. Physical pleasures are the pleasures that you indulge in with physical stimuli. For example, i can eat a big bowl of hot fudge sundae. i am having physical pleasure, however, i am only having this pleasure for only a brief amount of time. On the other hand, attitudinal pleasures include your own feelings. For example if we practice a certain religion, and we feel peace at mind, we are experiencing attitudinal pleasures. This type of pleasure lasts for a long time, depending on how strong the emotions are.

    1. if attitudinal pleasure is more important than physical why do most people prefer physical pleasure over attitudinal pleasure?

  5. Hedonism gives you a say because "the good life" can qualify as anything that is making you happy, whether that be harmful to others or benificial. the concept isnt hard to grasp but in practice its hard to do what you feel since its isnt always what in ones best interest. I would love to do whatever it is that makes me happy but that wouldnt work because there are limits. and with hedonism it all out or none. total enjoyment can be great but once you run out of things making you happy then you fail as a hedonist

  6. Question #1: What is the difference between physical pleasure and attitudinal pleasure? Which kind of pleasure do hedonists claim is always intrinsically valuable? Why do you think that hedonists make the distinction, rather than claiming that all pleasure is intrinsically valuable?

Physical Pleasure is a temporary thing, for example: Eating an apple. It gives you pleasure because it tastes good and you like it but when you finish that apple, the taste eventually goes away along with the pleasure.
Attitudinal pleasure, instead of being happy, has to do with happiness. This is a long term kind of happiness instead of the momentary pleasure that Physical pleasure gives you.
Happiness is what hedonists claim is intrinsically valuable.
Hedonists make the distinction rather than claiming that all pleasure is intrinsically valuable because the pleasure depends individually.

  7. 2. Hedonism gives us a say in what the good life looks like because it allows flexibility in what the good life is. Hedonists believe that a good life is what makes a person happy, and what brings someone happiness is different for every person. I think this is an attractive trait for Hedonism because it allows more freedom for the people who follow it. What makes one person happy might not make another happy. Each person is different, and it is nice to have the flexibility and freedom to follow what makes for a good life according to an individual person instead of what society believes creates a good life.

  8. I chose question number two: what is good is not our choice. Everyone thinks of good differently so really we do not know. Desire is not-- your good is your choice. It is an attractive part; its all our choice according ti desire theory.

  10. Question Number 1

Physical pleasure is a feeling or sensation that is good and, well, physical. It comes from things like touch (e.g. the feel of a soft, warm blanket would give you physical pleasure in the form of warmth). Attitudinal pleasure is more of an emotional feeling (e.g. the happiness you get from being warm is attitudinal pleasure). Hedonists claim that attitudinal pleasure is always intrinsically valuable. I think hedonists make this distinction beause attitudinal pleasure has a more lasting effect and it makes your mind and soul feel good as opposed to the fleeting pleasures the body feels from physical pleasure.

  11. Physical pleasure is simply the sensation caused by a physical experience, brief and fleeting. Sex, eating an apple, and waking up from a nap are all examples of physical pleasure. Attitudinal pleasure is emotional, chemical. This can range from a more lasting happiness to a sensation of sheer euphoria. Attitudinal pleasure is intrinsically valuable to the hedonist because physical pleasures are fleeting and superficial.

  12. Question Number 5
When one takes the path of least resistance without challenge, discomfort, inconvenience, etc, pleasure becomes a vice sought to avoid growth. I believe that as a philosophy,
Hedonism is incomplete. It's against most of my ideologies of life. Life is about the pleasure and the pain, the experience and the knowledge.
The way of Hedonism is against paths chosen to gain enlightenment and nirvana. Paths I would rather take than a path of pleasure and no knowledge.

  13. There is a difference between physical and attitudinal pleasure. Physical pleasure comes from something you experience in the world around you. Such as eating when you are hungry. Physical pleasure is also temporary. Although the time a physical pleasure lasts varies greatly, it eventually goes away. Attitudinal pleasure is more emotional. It also comes from things other than the physical world, such as thinking about happy experiences. Attitudinal pleasure really has no limits. A person can think happy things for their entire life. The main difference between physical and attitudinal pleasure is that one takes place in the real world and the other comes from your mind.

  14. Question #1:

Physical pleasure is gained by pursuing what gives you absolute happiness even if it is cheap or can hurt other people. Attitudinal pleasure can be gained as a result of hard work or feeling good about doing something nice. Hedonists chase physical pleasure because they want to feel as good as soon as they can.

  16. To shape you life means to choose what you want. To be in control so that you can do what you think is right like hedonism. You can do what you think it right or desire. Still even some people start out in a rough patch and believe in that the the4y have no freewill. Sometimes it is hard still you have to work threw it. I believe that you can shape who you are by your chooses in life. Some lives are better than other and that doesn't make them different it just makes the one with the bad life, it makes them have it harder in life. They do shape in a different way though because of where they are setup.

  17. Hedonism gives us a huge choice on what the good life is. The whole hedonistic view of life is to do what ever makes your happy. If you want to live in Japan and it would make you happy to live in japan, then it would be the good life to live in Japan according to a hedonist. This is defiantly a huge attraction to hedonism because who wouldn't want to live life the way that they wanted. If you had a choice to be homeless or live in big house you would obviously live in a house (unless it makes you happy to be homeless). It is always a dream of everyone to live the way you want, and that rarely happens do to the reality of life. This is why hedonism is so attractive to people.

    1. Hedonism is sometimes believed to be the happiest life a human can live. You do what makes yourself happy, and nothing else really matters. This attracts people strongly because it is the most benefiting life to live. The only choice you are morally obligated to make are ones to make you happy. Serving mankind and being a good person are not part of the hedonistic view of morality.

  18. I think that hedonism is correct if and only if you can comfortably back it up. Feel that you know what you think and are willing to fully support it at the same time. But to me it is not correct because it goes against my deepest beliefs. It at times is a direct contradictory of what I think. There is definitely some attractive ideas in hedonism like pure happiness but I believe it is immoral to just pursue one thing.
